Loren Kent, 6th Grade Profile Photo

Loren loves being an educator at Exploris. She has a BA in Journalism and Communication from UNCG and teaching certification from NC State University. She has taught 6-8th grades, but has spent most of her time teaching 6th and 7th. Her previous experience in the private sector adds value and relevance to classroom instruction by providing real-world examples and connections to content. As a life-long learner, she enjoys the quest for new knowledge and looks forward to sharing new things in our constantly changing educational environment with my students and colleagues.  One of her favorite things to do is read, preferably outdoors in a comfy spot. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends, and cheering on her son at baseball and basketball games. Loren's professional accolades include, First Year Teacher of the Year finalist, Clayton Middle, 2004, CS Flame for Learning Finalist, Clayton Middle, 2010, Leading with the Heart, Archer Lodge Middle school-based nominee. Loren also leads the Exploris Battle of Books team (charter division), reigning 2019 champions.
