Behind every number on our report card is the story of a creative, resilient community. Our innovative approach–including project-based, hands-on learning and a wraparound commitment to supporting the whole child–means every child is truly seen, challenged, and supported. We have prioritized equity by offering a weighted lottery for enrollment, ensuring all families have fair access to the Exploris community. Our socio-economic profile is aligned with that of Wake County, where we are located. Our project-based, cross-curricular, and experiential model allows students to explore ways that they learn best and to be change makers in their communities and around the globe, even at our youngest grades.
Exploris stands out for strong academic growth and for outperforming state averages in all tested subjects. Our attendance rate is above 95%, and our already low suspension rates are at a three-year low. Marginalized student groups continue to show stronger outcomes at Exploris compared to similar groups across North Carolina.
We recognize that the annual school report card is just one way to gauge how students are performing. At Exploris, regular benchmark assessments and informal check-ins provide an ongoing data stream about every student’s progress. Students utilize adaptive software, and teams conduct regular data dives to inform everything from core instruction to acceleration, spiral review, and targeted interventions. Our competency- and standards-based grading, along with student-led portfolios, help us gain a clear picture of what each student knows and needs, enabling us to drive growth. Students participate in multiple field experiences and presentations, and have numerous pathways for learning and demonstrating their knowledge.
We invite families to explore more about how School Report Card Grades are determined and how our approach delivers results for every learner. Our success is defined by the lived experiences of our children, staff, and families—where every child’s possibility is not just promised, but lived every day.
Welcome to The Exploris School, where curiosity, innovation, relationships, and responsibility shape tomorrow’s leaders!
