Ryan currently serves as the Deputy Director of the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts.  He has held several other leadership roles in state government including General Counsel at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and Deputy General Counsel at the North Carolina Department of Transportation.  Prior to attending law school, Ryan spent three years as a staffer in the United States House of Representatives.

Ryan is a graduate of the University of North Carolina (go Heels!) and the Charleston School of Law.  While in law school, he clerked for then-Chief Judge William B. Traxler, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and was inducted into the Sir Francis Drake American Inn of Court.  Ryan is a recipient of the State Superintendent Award for Excellence in Public Education and the North Carolina Human Trafficking Commission’s Outstanding Service Award.  He resides in Cary with his wife Linsay and their two sons where they attend Hope Community Church.
