Michelle Duncan joined the Exploris community as their first school counselor in August of 2017. Supporting families and building a counseling program that is well-staffed and resourced has been a passion for her since she has arrived. In addition to counseling individual students, leading small groups, and providing classroom guidance, Michelle also does much of the federal grant writing for our school. Michelle is a graduate of Purdue University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Her Master's Degree in Counseling and Human Services is from Indiana University. She holds a K-12 School Counseling license in the state of North Carolina. As the Student Services Coordinator, part of her role includes; McKinney-Vento Coordinator, 504 Coordinator, Foster-Care Liaison, food programing for f/r lunch eligible families, and connector for many local agencies such as Communities in Schools of Wake County, Interfaith Food Shuttle.

Michelle's work-life balance is achieved by doing the things she loves: Spending time with her husband and two kids hiking, exploring nature, and traveling. She also loves art, reading, and gardening and finds these things to be very therapeutic.
